More Than Breakfast

Some of the most meaningful connections in life are built in the simplest ways.

A few years ago, my neighbor, Anosha, began inviting me over on Saturday mornings for breakfast. She had recently launched Nuttinosh and was balancing the busy season of starting a business while managing family life with a toddler at home. Her husband worked long hours and was often gone on weekend mornings. At the time, I was single and navigating a demanding career myself, constantly moving from one busy week into the next.

But on Saturday mornings, things slowed down.

We’d gather in the kitchen while she made pancakes. Sometimes we’d spread them with pistachio butter. Other times, we’d make pancakes and pistachio date bark. Her son and I would play and read stories, while she and I talked about life, work, motherhood, stress, dreams, relationships, and everything in between.

What started as a simple breakfast invitation slowly became something much deeper.  It was about how food has a way of bringing people together. It created space to pause and simply be present with one another.  It was about connecting in the everyday moments and creating a deep friendship that has lasted through multiple moves and life events.  

That’s what Nuttinosh reminds me of now.

Not just nourishment for the body, but nourishment for the spirit too.

Because sometimes the most meaningful moments in life happen quietly — in a kitchen on a Saturday morning.
