Connection Starts With You
At Nuttinosh, we believe food should take the second-guessing away so you can spend less time worrying about what you’re eating and more time connecting—with yourself first, then with the people you love, and even with nature.
That idea really hit home for me this past week.
At Nuttinosh, we believe food should take the second-guessing away so you can spend less time worrying about what you’re eating and more time connecting—with yourself first, then with the people you love, and even with nature.
That idea really hit home for me this past week.
My husband was away on a work trip, and of course that’s when my 17-month-old got sick. He barely slept, barely ate, and wanted to be attached to me all day long. On top of that, my four-year-old was having his normal four-year-old moments.
By the end of the week, I was exhausted. I hadn’t slept well in days, I hadn’t worked out, and I honestly hadn’t done one thing that filled my own cup.
The morning my husband got home, I handed him the kids, grabbed my gym bag, threw a jar of Nuttinosh in the car, and left.
After my workout, I sat in the parking lot eating pistachio butter straight out of the jar with a spoon.
I know that probably sounds ridiculous.
But if you’re a parent, especially a mom, you know exactly what I mean. Sometimes 15 quiet minutes alone feels like the greatest luxury in the world.
As I sat there, I realized how grateful I was. Not because I was eating pistachio butter, but because I had finally done something for myself.
Movement is what fills my cup.
For years, I convinced myself skipping the gym was the right thing to do. The kids needed me. Work needed me. There was always something more important.
Until I realized I wasn’t showing up as the mom, wife, or person I wanted to be because I was running on empty.
You can’t pour from an empty cup. As cliché as it sounds, it’s true.
We all refill our cups differently. Maybe it’s a workout. Maybe it’s gardening, reading a book, going for a walk, or sitting outside with your morning coffee.
For me, it’s movement… and a spoonful of pistachio butter afterwards.
So this week, I hope you find a little time for yourself. Even if it’s just an hour.
Because the connection you have with yourself is the foundation for every other connection in your life.
